This is a Fire Warning - Stay alert - Stay Safe

Yellow sign with "FIRE ALERT" text in red, on a background with red and orange hues.

There is a fire in Jackson County that started on Salt Creek Rd, North of Lake Creek.

It  is currently at 800 acres and ash is falling in our area. They have air  tankers on scene, and as evening approaches typically fire slows down  as the relative humidity rises.

The fire is listed as active and it is traveling East.  A level 1  evacuation has been called in Jackson County up to the Butte Falls  Highway.  Level one means: Be Ready.

That means the fire isn't here and no actual evacuation has been called. Just a warning to be ready.

We are on alert and will let you know of any updates that we receive. Chief will be staying here tonight.

You should know where your checklist for evacuation is.

Know what you would take and where it is if you had to go

And know where you will go.

There is an app you can load on your cell phone that has been recommended. It will show you where the fire is and help you follow what  is happening.  It is called:  Watch Duty.   https://www.watchduty.org/
