10 New EMRs for Rocky Point

October was an intense month for 10 volunteers who spent many hours reading and studying on their own, along with approximately 60 hours of classroom lecture and skills practice for becoming State certified EMRs.

All ten students passed the final and are in the process of paperwork submission to the State. Nine of the ten students are residents of Rocky Point. This is very exciting because EMRs are usually the first people on the scene and we now have twelve trained EMRs to do patient care until the Ambulance with EMTs arrive. EMRs can perform almost all of the patient care functions that a Basic EMT can perform so you are in qualified hands.
