Rebuttal By Rocky Point Fire & Ems Board President - Regarding Recent Mailing To Rocky Point Land OwnersTo all Rocky Point Residents:
Some of you have received a postcard to vote no on the upcoming levy for Operational funding for your fire department. I am sending you the important facts that were left out of that publication.
- The budget has not been finalized and approved by the board of directors.
- The Board of Directors have until June 30 to approve the budget and present the budget to the County Tax Assessor by July 15.
- The funds allocated by the County is not enough to continue operations with current inflation rates.
- The Fire Department will provide continued services at present levels having to use reserve funds starting later this fiscal year.
- Reduced services will be implemented when reserve funds reach critical levels.
- Reserve funds will be used due to less support of Fire Department fundraising efforts.
- The replacement of two outdated and malfunctioning 12 lead Cardiac Monitor/Defibrillators with a refurbished unit for $20,000 each, will be coming out of Reserve Funds. This piece of equipment is required by the State of Oregon and our standing orders with our treating physician.
Sincerely,
David Carpenter
Board President
